Team Structure
2008
The Team will be composed of 3 squads, with the ongoing focus on youth development for our cycling program. The squads are outlined to be as follows:
Elite squad:
- Category 1
- each rider must have a coach
- each rider will participate in training reporting and heart rate file uploads to Team Management
- each rider will meet the clothing requirements for wear/use and sign a separate clothing contract.
- a contract covering code of conduct, use of team bikes, and a waiver will be required.
- a race calendar will dictate what races are included in the schedule of this squad's expected appearances. Each rider of the squad may not go to every race depending on training, areas of weakness, or physical proximity or logistics of travel.
Note: the age limit criteria for A-squad riders is 25 years (U25) - exceptions will considered on case by case basis
The following is what the Team will provide to each Elite squad member:
- 3 kits
- skinsuit
- winter clothing
- helmet
- race entry fees at mandatory races
- bike program - being finalized; but at least 1 Specialized Tarmac SL that the team will own at the end of the season
- support for national competition
- bike shop deal at Bicycle Haus of Scottsdale- cost + shipping for parts; service is comped
- each rider is allowed to apply for Team Grant money awarded based on need and as determined exclusively by Team Management
Development squad: Open only to U25
riders; consists of Cat 3 and above
- riders for this squad are to be selected from the Club squad as upgrades are earned.
- offer coaching assistance
- each rider will meet the clothing requirements for wear/use and sign a contract about use
- A code of conduct, release of liability will also be required for signature
The following is what the Team will provide to each Development squad member:
- 2 kits
- race entry fees at selected local races - TBD; Any podium finish in Cat 2 (or 1/2) or in Cat 3 will earn reimbursed entry fees
- bike shop deal at Bicycle Haus of Scottsdale- cost plus shipping for parts, service is comped
- possibility to travel to races outside the state with team support; selections will depend on recent results & rider strengths
- each rider is allowed to apply for Team Grant money awarded based on need and as determined exclusively by Team Management
Club squad:
Open to any and all persons. Participation at
any level is encouraged and desired. Various sub-groups
may form part of this club including a Tri-Club, kids
Tri-Club, adult social club, and so on. Applications
will be taken online or in person at our bike shop via
Club Director.
Each OVER 25 member will pay annual dues of $99 to
support the youth development agenda in A and B squads.
Each UNDER 25 member is free to join. Paying
adult (over 25) members will get 1 short sleeve jersey with
their dues.
All members of the Club squad will be entitled to bike shop discounts - contact the team to know what is available.
NOTE TO CLUB: our club consists of many Over 25 persons racing at a high level. The team may seek your assistance at races in support of the above squads and for help in the mentoring process of the younger talent. The team may also ask for your appearance at out of state races. Some financial support may be offered to meet these goals. We encourage your offer of support and any ideas or proposals you may have to futher the team's goals and to achieve top race results.
