Team WM takes top honors at State Crit: read the account below the photos.
Team WM is selected to participate in the Tour of Pennsylvania! This new race in 2008 is being promoted as the top event worldwide for U25/Espoir racing. Our team will be one of the few American entries. Event date is June 24-29.

Team Waste Management, Arizona State Champions
Despite arid weather with temperatures reaching towards 100 degrees and a technical course which had produced frequent skin searing pile-ups, Team Waste Management succeeded in winning the Arizona Pro Men (Category Pro1/2) State Championship by delivering sprinter Sean Mazich to the line in perfect fashion.
The 60-minute race started out quick and dicey, with all of the 60 riders adjusting to the tricky 8-corner, 1-kilometer course. Attack after attack was fired by riders from all teams, including RideClean, Metro-VW, Bicycle Haus, and Swiss America. If a Team WM rider was not in any given move, it was hastily shut down before a WM- induced counter-attack was launched. Ron Jensen, Stevie Cullinan, Tim Doud, and Jon Parrish all spent considerable time patrolling the front of the race chasing and initiating throughout the race.
After 50 minutes and many near successful breakaways, the hard charging field decided that the end would result would come from a field sprint. With several laps to go, Team Waste Management elite riders amassed at the front and begin what was to be another fast and successful leadout, dropping Sean 150 meters from the finish line and 150 meters from a State Championship. While Mazich took the overall win, it was a win for the team as they raced like a cohesive unit throughout the entire race.
The following day at the Superior Road Race, a selective group of riders rode away from the rest on the challenging hilly course. Among this selection was Stevie Cullinan and Jon Parrish. With 25 miles remaining, a two rider breakaway went away leaving Cullinan to single handily chase and attack the remaining riders before breaking away himself and riding to 3rd place in the tremendously tough race. Parrish rode in for 11th.
In yet another successful weekend of racing, Team Waste Management proves their strength and determination as they move forward to a series of big races. Up next for the squad is the Vuelta de Bisbee, Joe Martin Stage Race, and the Tour of Arkasas.
